TIRANA, Aug 23 /ATA/ The “Çerçiz Topulli” square in Gjirokastra is being completely redesigned in harmony with the historical Bazaar, providing a solution to parking in the museum area of the city.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Tuesday on social media images from this construction site, which will convert the center of the museum city into a car-free zone.
“Good morning and with these views from the construction site of the major work for the transformation of Çerçiz Square into a pedestrian space with an underground public parking of 300 lots, which turns the heart of the museum city into a car-free zone and together with the bypass enables zero pollution in the exclusively pedestrian streets of the center of Gjirokastra, I wish you all a nice day ahead,” writes Rama.
The underground parking project comes in the follow-up to the projects for the revitalization of the city of Gjirokastra. This parking will facilitate the circulation as well as the orientation of vehicles that bring tourists to the old area of the city.
The revitalization of the square at “Shtëpia e Pionierit” or the square in front of the municipality are in the pipeline.
The main goal of this project is to create an oasis of calm and entertainment for citizens as well as revitalize a very important part of the old area by connecting Bazaar Pass with the rest of the city in a natural and pleasant fashion.
