Tabaku: Risks of legitimizing money laundering

TIRANA, August 19/ATA/ Head of the National Council of European Integration, MP of the Democratic Party in opposition Jorida Tabaku reacted today regarding the granting of Albanian citizenship to foreign nationals.

Tabaku emphasized in a post on social media that along with the fiscal amnesty, they risk turning Albania into a country where money laundering will be formalized by law.

“After a long 30-year effort, Albania started the last segment of the integration process through the opening of the negotiation process. This should be turned into a national priority, where every initiative law and every effort should be in the service of this process. But, everything risks return into zero. The reason is the latest initiative for the sale of citizenship or the so-called golden passports. This may turn into a problem of security, but also for money laundering. Together with the fiscal amnesty, they risk to make Albania a country where this money laundering will be formalized by law”, she said.

Also, Tabaku added that politics should discuss a national strategy for development and integration./j.p/p.s./
