PM Rama: New Vlora bypass road shortens distance, travel time to Albanian Riviera

TIRANA, Aug 7 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/  – Vlora bypass, a recently-built  29-km road network bypassing the southern coastal city of Vlora and the latest major infrastructure project in Albania, has significantly improved access to the country’s southern Riviera during summer tourist season in particular.

Prime Minister Edi Rama posted Sunday images showing the new Vlora bypass and some of the comments shared by the road users, saying the investment has improved traffic flow and access to Albanian Riviera now reachable in just few minutes.

“Good morning and via images showing the newly-constructed Vlora bypass road and the stunning panoramic view of the new segment that has shorten distance and the travel time to the Albanian Riviera and has significantly improved traffic flow to the coastal city of Vlora, providing ‘fresh horse power’ to local tourism, I wish you all a peaceful Sunday,” PM Rama said via social networks.

The new road links Levan-Vlora highway with the existing national coastal road between Vlora and Saranda, and it provides local farmers quick access to the local markets and will have an impact on the development of agriculture and agritourism in the area.

The bypass road project is co-funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union.

The 29-km new road is expected to have a significant impact on development of tourism.
