TIRANA, August 3/ATA/ 15 firefighters from Durrës, assisted by 20 army troops and 4 fire engines, worked intensively night and day for more than 30 hours to neutralize the fires in Shetaj of the administrative unit Ishem.
Mayor of Durrës Emiriana Sako said today that there were 6 fires which were extinguished by the forces on the ground, while the seventh fire is located in a difficult area due to dense vegetation and a very broken terrain.
The strong wind has made the work of the teams on the ground even more difficult. In order to neutralize this fire yesterday, there was sent a helicopter in an effort to put it out.
Mayor Sako emphasizes that, “The situation is under control, the flames have been minimized, but the hearth is still active, so today the firefighters have started work to open a trail so that the teams on the ground can go as close as possible to the hearth and completely extinguish the fire”.
“We are on the ground, monitoring the situation and working to extinguish all fires. Gratitude and respect for the firefighters and the army forces who try to extinguish the flames every day” – said Sako. /k.s/p.s./
