TIRANA, July 31 /ATA/- By I.Vata/ Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, thanked on Sunday the Civil Emergency Force and all the structures involved in extinguishing the flames, as well as the Greek government for assisting with two fire-fighting planes the efforts to put out the fire in Dropulli te Poshtem.
Kumbaro emphasized that yesterday evening was tough in Dropull te Poshtem due to the fierce battle with the flames that swept through the entirety of forest areas in Frashtan, and further in Terihat, Goricë, Lugar and Grapsh.
“Thanks to the cooperation and grouping of the fire forces, the worst was contained and averted. Today I want to wholeheartedly thank the mayors of Gjirokastër region who immediately responded to the call for help! I am especially grateful to the brave firefighters of Libohova, Gjirokastra, Përmet, Këlcyra, Memaliaj and Tepelena, who joined their colleagues in Dropull to battle the flame. Special thanks to the forces of the State Police and to the forces of Civil Emergencies who responded in record time with people and vehicles and made it possible to contain the flames. I greet my colleagues from the Protected Areas Gjirokastër who, like the entire administration of the protected areas, are always in the frontline of nature protection,” said Kumbaro.
Also, Kumbaro emphasized that the Greek government sent two fire-fighting planes that joined the efforts on the ground.
“And the last but not the least, I want to thank the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, with whom I have been in constant communication to follow the entire operation on the ground, and thanks to the communication with the Greek government, it became possible to bring two firefighting aircraft that joined from the air the efforts on the ground to save Nature and Life. Now, the challenge is to increase vigilance on the ground, in order to prevent fires in the coming days, as well as to protect the territory from carelessness, irresponsibility and scorching temperatures”, she said. /j.p/sm/
