TIRANA, July 15 /ATA/ In response to the question of the Acting Head of EU delegation in our country, Alexis Hupin, who said that before the money of Albanians living in the EU enter Albania, their source must be checked, PM Edi Rama said: “We are ready to work with the EU experts, but they should not tell us, don’t you dare do the fiscal amnesty.”
“I want to get straight to the point. What you said is music to our ears. That’s all we asked, to sit down and make it happen, in the best way, but not to be told, a priori, without starting yet, “no you shouldn’t do it”, “no you can’t do it”, “you are very complicated people,” “you are a suspicious country. This is unacceptable,” said Rama.
As to the rest, the prime minister said, “we are ready to sit down with your best experts and as far as experts are concerned, the EU has plenty of them and it will not be a problem to help us and we will we check every detail and will approve as we have approved many things. It is a different draft compared to the one we had years ago and we have addressed important points that have been raised by the EU and others in informal meetings.”
“Let me be very clear. We are not asking for support from you, from others, and let alone from Moneyval. We know you will never say do it, that this is a great thing to do. We are only asking for respect and for that possibility of doubt, as our British friend put it, which means that implementation will reveal how capable of doing exactly what is written in the law we are,” he said.
