Ibrahimaj to opposition: Amount of fuel cleared through customs increased on a year to year basis

TIRANA, July 14 /ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated on Thursday that the total amount of fuel imported in the country has increased on a year to year basis.

In response to the opposition accusations of fuel smuggling, Ibrahimaj emphasized that at the end of 2021, imported fuel amounted to 757 thousand tons, while in 2013 it amounted to 573 thousand tons.

“There are two components of fuels that enter the country, the fuels that are put directly into circulation and the fuels that enter the customs warehouses and are cleared through customs later. Over the years, the total amount of fuel has only increased. In 2021, 757 thousand tons were imported. In 2013, 573 thousand tons were imported,” Ibrahimaj declared.

Earlier today in parliament, the Democratic Party MP, Dashnor Sula, called on SPAK to investigate fuel smuggling because, according to him, the number of vehicles has increased twofold, while oil imports have dropped.
