TIRANA, July 6 /ATA/ A mobile border post will be installed on the Albanian coast to facilitate the entry of foreign citizens who arrive in our territory by boat or of Albanian citizens who want to go to the Mediterranean without having to appear at the ports of our country.
The news was announced by the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, while he was in Durrës at the ceremony of handing over 5 new patrol boats and 2 high-tech surveillance devices for border protection, financed by the European Union through the IPA program.
“A good news for all sailors and sea users who want to come to Albania and who want to leave Albania to explore the shores of the Mediterranean, we will install a Mobile Border Post on the Albanian coast so that every vessel who will enter Albania does not need to go to one of the 3 border ports that Albania has, but it is enough to notify the point where it is and the border vehicle itself will come to carry out all procedures for entering the territory of Albania,” Minister Çuçi said.
Regarding the addition of 5 new vehicles to the Border Police fleet and the repair of 7 others, as well as the installation of 2 radars for surveillance of the blue border, the minister emphasized that this is a step forward in the security not only of the borders of Albania, but in the security of European borders as well.
“We completely changed our border security strategy by opening the borders, but increasing and securing them as much as possible. We have 7 vessels that have been repaired or renovated through the EU project and 5 new newly arrived vessels equipped with the latest marine technology. Undoubtedly, this will create a climate for every foreign citizen who comes to Albania to feel free, but safe,” the Minister of the Interior said.
The General Director of the State Police, Gladis Nano, said that these new and common tools are at the service of joint battles for the security of our borders and the EU.
