TIRANA, June 10/ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka marked today the 144th anniversary of the League of Prizren.
“144 years ago, there was held the Assembly of Prizren, which announced the establishment of the League of Prizren. It was an event of extraordinary significance in history of the National Renaissance that marked the first political and military organization of Albanians from all Albanian space where they lived, in defense of their territorial integrity “, wrote Xhaçka in a post on social media.
General Directorate of Archives also commemorated the League of Prizren.
This day, on June 10, 1878, the Albanians gathered from the four vilayets in Prizren, rose in reaction against the decisions taken by the Treaty of St. Stephen.
The League was organized into three committees, covering Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, and Finance.
Today, for the first time, on the 144th anniversary of the Albanian League of Prizren, all schools in Albania and Kosovo dedicated the first hour of teaching to the remembrance and honor of this marked event among the greatest in the history of the Albanian nation.
The decision was taken by special order of Ministers of Education of Albania and Kosovo Evis Kushi and Arbërie Nagavci./j.p/p.s./
