KESH will pay no longer imbalances caused by priority energy producers

TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ The Albanian government approved the draft decision to address the imbalances caused by priority producers of electricity.

“Priority producer” is every producer that generates electricity from renewable energy sources and in the case of hydropower with an installed capacity of up to 15 MW per generating unit and benefiting from government support schemes.

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku stated that with the approval of this draft decision, the Albanian Electricity Corporation will not pay any longer the imbalances caused by these producers and the respective costs of their coverage.

“So far, the imbalances caused by the producers of small HPPs or photovoltaic parks were covered by state operators, specifically KESH, but starting from today, these entities that produce energy and are defined as priority producers of electricity will pay these imbalances by themselves “, stated Minister Balluku after the government meeting.

Minister Balluku said that this is also a symbolic cost, but the transfer of responsibility to private entities strengthens the power system and the finances of state-owned companies operating in this system. /j.p/p.s./
