TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ UK Ambassador Alastair King-Smith and the UK’s Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach, met with President-Elect Bajram Begaj and congratulated him on his election to become Albania’s next President.
The UK embassy in Tirana said that they praised his intention to shape the role to serve the long-term interests of the Albanian people.
“We discussed the importance of regional security, addressing price rises of energy and food and ensuring the highest standards in public office and appointments,” ambassador Alastair King-Smith said.
The UK’s Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach, is visiting Albania to reinforce the UK’s commitment to work with Albanian leaders and others to promote strong democratic institutions and open societies across the region. As close allies, we look forward to engaging with President-Elect Begaj on how the UK and Albania can address shared challenges and create new opportunities for our two countries to work together”, said Ambassador Alastair King-Smith.
