TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/ – The Chairman of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group Taulant Balla, and the Deputy Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on the European Integration, Etilda Gjonaj, received Friday a visiting European Parliament (EP) delegation headed by EP Rapporteur on Albania, Isabel Santos, and the Austrian MEP Andreas Schieder.
The senior Socialist official Balla praised EP Rapporteur Isabel Santos for her “objective presentation of the findings on the European Commission report and the encouraging resolution on immediate launch of the first intergovernmental conference between the European Union and Albania.”
The meeting also discussed progress and outcome of the justice system reform as one of the most profound and most important reforms ever launched by Albania.
“We wouldn’t be able to deliver on the judiciary reform without the precious support and assistance from our partners, namely the European Union and the United States of America,” Balla said.
Santos and the Austrian MEP Schieder affirmed full support for the regional integration and welcomed the results of the Open Balkans initiative to date.
Balla underlined that Albania plays an important role as the only Western Balkan country with its foreign policy fully aligned with that of the European Union.
