Rama on open debate at Security Council

TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today on the social media the photo album of the open debate at the UN Security Council on international accountability.

“With pride for yesterday of Albania in the international arena, as chair of the United Nations Security Council, I wish you a nice day,” said Rama.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Edi Rama gave a keynote speech at the open debate of the UN Security Council on international accountability, put on the agenda by Albania as one of the priorities of our country’s program in this council.

At the UN headquarters in New York, Rama said that, “Crimes should not go unpunished.”

He stressed that, “Albania has been and will continue to be at the forefront of efforts to establish justice and prevent further and future crimes.”

“Differences of opinion, disagreements over divisions are not uncommon for this Council, or more broadly for UN membership. They are part of life, including international life, but they become more amplified if we focus only on the present moment, the politics of the present-day and narrow interests. Again at the core of these clear arguments lies the fundamental values that still exist and are what unite this international community. These values represent the moral link that makes the international community a community where the total amount is always greater than the individual parts. These values and norms are sanctioned in what we commonly call international law. They show their true meaning and their real power in times of difficulties, crises and conflicts, and wars,” Rama said. /a.a/p.s./
