TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ – The number of active enterprises operating within Albania’s territory at the end of 2021 rose 1.1% year-on-year to 118,627, the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, said on Wednesday.
According to INSTAT’s Business Register for 2021, as many as 14,946 new enterprises were registered during 2021, compared to 12,376 new economic enterprises registered in 2020.
Big enterprises with 50 and more employed represent 1.7% of total number of enterprises. Their contribution to employment in 2021 is 51.1% compared with 51.9% in 2020.
Annual turnover of the active enterprises is 3,428 billion lek in 2021.
The total number of employed by active enterprises at the end of 2021 is 700,763, of which 320,371 are female employees.
