Agreement with AADF on first 100 SMART labs, Rama: We are set to launch coding program on Wednesday

TIRANA, May 17/ATA/ The Albanian government and the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) signed today an agreement to establish the first 100 SMART laboratories for I – II – III grades.

Attending the signing ceremony of the agreement were Prime Minister Edi Rama and Chairman of the Board of the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) Michael Granoff.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that, “Today, we are here to start a radically transformative process that is part of our digital revolution that was specially promoted by the students with whom we had an intensive communication coordinated by Minister of State for Youth and Children regarding the necessity of taking IT laboratories to another level ”.

The head of government said that, “We found on this road a serious, reliable, highly qualified partner and ready to contribute financially to start this process and we start with the first 100 SMART laboratories, which are the latest generation laboratories in 100 schools in our country. While this is just the beginning, we will continue that our ambition is to quickly move towards filling all schools with SMART laboratories, but this requires finance and in addition to finance requires a good knowledge of the process.”

“With these 100 schools, we will have several months to see how the process will work, not in terms of supplying laboratories, but in terms of teaching,” Rama continued.

PM Rama said that, “In parallel with this, tomorrow we will launch with AADF another program which is the Coding, learning the coding for students, young people who are in pre-university education. This program will start with relatively small numbers, but we want to turn it into a youth movement.”

“Both of these jobs go hand in hand with what we are doing with AADF for the Pyramid building which will soon open its doors by transforming into the largest innovation center in our region and becoming a haven for young people who will to go further in the field of technology, as happens with the TUMO center, in one of the spaces of the “Air Albania” national stadium, said Rama.

Rama said that, “We are preparing that starting from the new school year to have a new system of learning the informatics subject, which will be extended throughout the country, not only in SMART laboratories, but also in the existing ones, to increase the quality of teaching through a team of selected teachers, who will be connected with the classes throughout the country”.

While the president of AADF Granoff said that, “Our investment is 3.375 million dollars; we hope that this money will attract more money from participants who can join us, NGOs that want to join us”.

“I am happy to start this way, I am grateful for the partnership we have established with the government,” Granoff added.

Granoff said that, “We will work in 100 schools, monitor the results and understand the pilot programs. In this way, we have to spend time working “./ k.s // a.a /p.s./
