TIRANA, May 11 /ATA/ – Albanian government approved the concession contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the integrated port Triport in the city of Vlora on Wednesday, clearing the way for construction of the newest modern port in the southern coastal city.
The integrated new port will host an array of commercial activities, as well as fishing and ship maintenance and refit operations.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku said in a press statement after a regular cabinet meeting that the Council of Ministers adopted the concession contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the integrated port Triport in the city of Vlora.
“It is one of the best public-private-partnership contracts we have signed to date and its implementation will start as soon as the decision is published on the official gazette, as according to the contract the Albanian state will start paying for the project once construction process completes and new port kicks off its operations,” Balluku said.
The PPP Concession for the construction, operation and maintenance of the integrated port Triport Vlora is an unsolicited proposal by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and is a contract in the form of Construction Operation Transfer (BOT).
The investment will be made initially by the concessionaire while the source of the concessionaire’s income will be provided by the revenues of the State Budget, in the form of availability payments. These availability payments will start to be paid from the State Budget after the complete construction and final delivery of the facility.
