TIRANA, May 4 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated Wednesday that no media in the region enjoys the freedom the media landscape enjoys in the Republic of Albania and there is no index or report that could undo this.
“In no country in the region do the media enjoy the freedom they do in the Republic of Albania. And there is no report or index to undo this. This is unchangeable, no matter what the indices and reports say,” PM Rama told reporters following a meeting of the Socialist Party’s chairmanship.
The government head said: “I personally think that only a few reports deserve to be read and if you want me to name them, I would start with the EU’s progress report, where a whole team of people work around the clock to compile the report based on facts and arguments rather than perceptions or certain agendas. So, with all due respect for the international reports, all over these years I have learned to be selective when it comes to reading them, because a part of these reports are not reliable.”
“There is no concern about the media situation in Albania, except for the concern that number of victims of abuse in the name of freedom of expression is increasing. Number of victims of slander, number of victims of fabrications is increasing,” Rama said.
