First 11 children receive “Children in the care of the Republic” status, Rama: Promise kept

TIRANA, May 4/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama accorded the “Children in the care of the Republic” status to the first 11 children, as an expression of deep gratitude to their parents who gave their lives for the protection of the lives of the others.

Rama stated in his speech that, “Your parents live in your memories and the memory of this society, as the embodiment of extreme sacrifice for the good of the others.”

“Their silent last will for us was not to leave you alone. Today’s meeting is to publicly announce that their last will has been fulfilled; it turned into our commitment and became the first law of the third term”, said Rama.

The prime minister added that, “Their unforgettable memory became our great impetus that our Republic does not leave the children of its heroes and martyrs alone”.

“The status of ‘Children in the care of the Republic’ is no longer a commitment, but a reality. Nothing can replace the parents, but providing financial care for the children implies support for them”, said Rama.

Rama added that the status also provides free hospital services in public and private institutions for them and when necessary in the most specialized structures abroad.

Also, Rama said that the status provides support for them during the entire education process with full scholarships and exemption from all fees as well as state support for their employment.

“This status belongs also to all the children of martyrs, doctors and nurses who lost their lives in the front lines of the war with the invisible enemy, the coronavirus. Today, the first 11 children are here and meanwhile the Special Commission headed by Minister Manastirliu, set up according to the law, continues with the treatment of other cases”, said Rama. /j.p/p.s./
