TIRANA, April 15/ATA/ 14 new diplomats joined the Foreign Service today. Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka, who took part in the swearing-in ceremony of the diplomats of the “Iliaz Vrioni” generation, said that these young people are becoming part of the Albanian diplomacy during a very significant situation for the country.
“Albania’s foreign policy has achieved today successes that once seemed impossible. From the OSCE Presidency to the mandate in the Security Council, where the performance of Albania has been really successful, I am sure that these are moments that will be talked at length in this ministry among all colleagues who will join the service in the coming years”.
For the Albanian chief diplomat, meritocracy will be the basis of the foreign service.
“This performance cannot be sustainable if we do not manage to bring the best people in foreign service and if we do not restore meritocracy to the service as fully as possible. I strongly believe in the potential that young people bring to this institution. I strongly believe that by creating as much space for you, we are guaranteeing the future of Foreign Service for the coming years. Therefore, I wish you success and I guarantee you that if you work hard you will have a very strong support from me “, said Minister Xhaçka.
In the generation of young diplomats, the vast majority are women, while according to Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, many of Albania’s representative offices in the world are headed by women./p.s./
