Rama: Meta as President, a national disgrace

TIRANA, April 9 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Saturday that the Constitutional Court has agreed with the Parliament that Ilir Meta has breached the Constitution.

Pressed by the media at a news conference after the closing of the SP Congress about the tour announced by Meta, Rama said that “the only point where the Constitutional Court has not converged with the Parliament is that according to the Constitutional Court, Ilir Meta has not committed any serious violations of the Constitution.”

“I do not wish to comment on the reasoning of the court, but all I have to say is that Ilir Meta as president is a national disgrace and I do not care what he will do upon expiry of his term of office, I do not care at all. He can do whatever he wants as a free citizen of the Republic of Albania. On the other hand, I am eager to see that this time of Ilir Meta in office comes to an end as soon as possible in order for this disgrace to be a thing of the past.”

Asked about the statement on the red line for all those who break the law, and whether it is a forewarning of yet another arrests, Rama said that “I did not intend to forewarn any arrest, all I wanted to say is that a stab in the back of the SP and its electorate is intolerable, just as it is impossible for anyone to seek protection from the SP or from me.”
