TIRANA, April 2 /ATA/ Austria ranks the fifth largest foreign investor for 2021 in Albania, with a total investment of 66 million euros.
Referring to the data published by the Bank of Albania, Austrian investments in our country, during the last year, were only 2 million euros higher than in 2020.
Economic relations between Albania and Austria have significantly intensified in recent years.
Austrian investments in Albania are particularly concentrated in the insurance market and the construction sector.
The banking and insurance systems in particular (around 70% of the market shares) are currently dominated by Austrian businesses. With the setting to operation of the ASHTA hydropower plant in the north of Albania, Austria is represented in Albania in the field of energy.
The Austrian investments in Albania are estimated at around 554 million euros. There are 100 companies with Austrian capital operating in Albania (including companies with joint capital).
Also in the field of tourism there is a great potential for development. The number of Austrian tourists visiting Albania every year is growing more and more.
