TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, visited on Monday the largest wheat flour milling company in Albania to monitor the transparency with prices and raise awareness on the vital need for solidarity in this difficult moment for the whole world.
During this visit, Çuçi said that, as it is known, a board has been set up to guarantee the transparency of price oversight for staples. Monitoring includes production and sale in markets.
“The board is made up of representatives of the government, of manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, and I believe that this is the only way we will be able to keep price abuse in check in difficult times, as is the war started in Europe, ” he said.
Çuçi also added that it is important to make sure there is no price speculation during these difficult times.
“There is no question that monitoring starts at production, so the whole chain must be monitored. We are at a difficult time, we are at a period that I believe brings a great deal of uncertainty in Europe and beyond, causing the prices to fluctuate. So we have to be very careful not to allow any abuse with prices, but also have to be aware that in these times the profit margin should be at a minimum rate in order to guarantee the smooth supply and staples for any Albanian family,” he said.
For his part, the representative of the company said that “the price has been the focus of our attention these days. Due to this situation, we have made efforts to have sufficient stocks and supply the market.”
“In terms of prices we are all open to the international market, but thanks to an effective intervention by the government, all costs are put on the table and by consensus both parties figured out a minimum profit,” he said.
