Fuel price decreases as National Board issues first decision

TIRANA, March 12 /ATA/ – The National Board on the Management of Fuel decided to bring down diesel price to 217 lek per litre from 223 lek currently as the newly-established Board held its first meeting on Saturday in a bid to curb any speculation on fuel prices as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.

The decision will be in force from March 12 to 15.

The Council of Ministers adopted earlier today the Normative Act on additions and amendments to the Law on processing, transport and trade of oil, gas and their by-products.

The Normative Act defines the framework of obligations and limited rights of fuel suppliers for a two-month period. It determines and monitors the retail sale prices of fuel, gas and their by-products for the household consumers.

The Board will convene again next Tuesday to provide transparency over the retail sale of these products and possible price changes in the international markets.

Every oil wholesale and retail operator is obliged to abide by the Transparency Board decision regarding oil prices.

The National Board on the Management of Fuel includes representatives from the Finance and Economy Ministry, Infrastructure and Energy Ministry, the Directorate of Tax and Customs, the head of the Competition Authority, and representatives of major oil suppliers in the country.
