Kurti: Kosovo will shelter 20 journalists from Ukraine

PRISTINA, March 1/ATA/ Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that Kosovo will host 20 journalists from Ukraine.

“Our government has just decided to welcome 20 journalists from Ukraine in Kosovo. They were forced to flee their homeland by Russian occupation. In support and solidarity with Ukraine and its people, in cooperation with @EFJEUROPE & #ECPMF, we will enable them to work from the distance,” Kurti said on Twitter.

The government of Kosovo decided to allocate budget funds in the amount of 150,000 Euros on behalf of the admission in Kosovo of 20 journalists from Ukraine.

A press release read that these funds will be used in order to cover the expenses related to the stay of these journalists in Kosovo for a period of up to 6 months.

The identification and selection of journalists will be done by the European Federation of Journalists and the European Center for Freedom of the Press and Media in cooperation with the government of the Republic of Kosovo, giving priority to women journalists.

Ukraine does not recognize Kosovo’s independence, but has 40 troops serving as peacekeepers in the country under the NATO umbrella./p.s./
