TIRANA, March 1 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ On Tuesday, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, called on the government to take precautionary measures to mitigate the expected situation of rising prices amid the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
In his posting, Basha states that ” the anticipated price increase as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine, will exacerbate the difficulties of Albanian families.”
Basha proposed reduction of the VAT on basket items from 20 to 6% and scrapping of fuel tax.
“Therefore, the government should have a plan of measures in place to ensure the provision of sufficient food stocks, as well as to develop the ways to come to the aid of families in need. To compensate and ease the extra burden on Albanian families in these conditions, the government should reconsider two measures proposed by the Democratic Party: reduction of VAT on basket foods from 20 to 6% and scrapping of the tax on fuel of 240 ALL per liter, “,stressed Basha. /j.p/sm/
