TIRANA, February 28 /ATA/ In the domestic foreign exchange market, on Monday morning the European currency gained points against the Lek, while the US dollar depreciated, compared to the weekend.
According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, the euro is appreciated by 0.09 Lekë and got exchanged with 121.32 Lekë, after a decline of several days in a row in the domestic market. While, the green American currency fell to 108.52 Lekë or 0.02 Lekë less.
A strong euro penalizes bank customers who have taken out loans in this currency. It also makes imports more expensive, as well as increases government costs for paying off external debt. Exporters have an advantage, whose profit rate will increase.
The strengthening of the euro is a consequence not only of the performance of stock exchanges, where in the latter the European currency has gained points against the dollar, but also of supply and demand in the domestic market.
Meanwhile, the British pound rose by 0.08 Lekë and exchanged by 145.26 Lekë and the Swiss franc appreciated by 0.44 Lekë and exchanged by 117.68 Lekë. /j.p/p.s./
