TIRANA, Feb 21 /ATA/ Consulting service (agricultural extension) is one of the important instruments for implementing policies of MoARD, for increasing standards and agricultural exports.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, shared an informative video, which shows the specialists of the Tirana Agricultural Extension Agency on a farm in Baldushk, explaining to farmers how the soil sample is taken for soil analysis.
“We inform the working people on the need and necessity of this process, thanks to which they can get quality products,” said Krifca.
Although we can talk about a pluralistic extension system in our country, with many actors such as (public services, NGOs, donor-funded projects, etc.), the public consulting service is currently the largest, most organized provider and located in the whole territory of the country.
It cooperates and coordinates its activity, with other service providers, part of the national system of agricultural knowhow and information. The mission of this service is to provide information and technical and economic knowhow to increase production and income for different categories of farmers. This service is provided free of charge to farmers and is mainly financed by the MARD.
At the regional level it is represented by the Sectors of the Advisory Service, part of the Directorates of Agriculture, where in accordance with the specifics of each region, there are 3-4 profiled specialists (Horticulture, Plant Protection, Zootechnics and Economists).
These centers provide for farmers, but also for agribusiness, information on: techniques and technologies for crop and livestock production, quality inputs, legislation, farm management, farmers’ cooperation, business plans, credit opportunities, marketing of agricultural products, prices markets, production potentials, processing opportunities, prognosis-signalling for diseases and pests, food safety, etc.
