TIRANA, Feb 16 /ATA/ Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, accompanied by the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ervis Berberi, inspected on Tuesday the completion of the works for the construction of the new Tapiza bridge, about 12 km away from Tirana.
Balluku said that although the investment in this public work kicked off on March 2 last year under a 12-month contract, it is delivered today almost two months ahead of schedule.
director of ARA, Berberi informed that the Tapiza bridge 120 meters long and 12 meters wide, consists of two lanes and sidewalks, according to all parameters and technical conditions.
According to him, the bridge is built from scratch on the previous site and is the first bridge among 9 other bridges, which will be included in the reconstruction project that the Albanian government will implement with the WB.
Balluku stressed that MoIE has already started checking on the spot the bridges in our country, because as she said, “over 70% of bridges have been built around the ’70s and due to poor maintenance works over the years, especially those located in remote areas, they have become obsolete. The investment in the Tapiza bridge amounts to 150 million ALL, while the project with the WB for investments in the bridge system in our country (about 100 bridges) is estimated at 100 million euros. ”
In the framework of investments in this direction, Berberi said that the next projects will be the bridge of Viroj and Beshir, while the work will move ahead with construction, restoration and reconstruction of all bridges.
The new bridge has been built on the site of the 50-year bridge, which was damaged by the November 26 earthquake and meets all road safety requirements.
