TIRANA, Feb 12 /ATA/ Bringing young people closer to the labor market through professional internships and trainings in the maritime field is the goal of the joint action plan between the “Aleksandër Moisiu” university, the municipality of Durrës, Durrës Port Authority and the National Employment Agency.
Through the Center of Excellence for Maritime Affairs, the Port of Durres launched the Program of Training and Professional Internships in the field of port administration. During its first phase 10 young people will gain integrated work experience in interaction with career professionals in port administration.
The head of DPA, Pirro Vengu, stated that the maritime sector is in process of development and uses a rotation system, so the recruitment of young people is very important.
Our ambition is to replicate this approach in all institutions that operate at sea (Customs, Captainship office, Maritime Register) and we will also try to restore the PhD degree in maritime profiles at the “Aleksandër Mosiu” university Durrës. It is an efficient way to provide young people with a window for employment by offering a program of Professional Training and Internship on a regular contract.
In the first phase, there are 10 positions for specialists formalized through our agreement with the National Employment and Skills Agency, which will be finalized with the launch within March of the employment portal in the maritime sector in Durrës ,” Vengu said.
“The port of Durres has been and remains an economic centre not only of the city but with an impact throughout the country, so guiding young people towards maritime profiles is a very important step forward in employment of young people in these profiles. The Municipality also supports skill development of young people and our next step is the distribution of the first 2000 cards for “Aleksander Moisiu” university students, which will ease their access to public services and their involvement in public life. We will also explore the opportunities to support not only the students of excellence but also those young people in economic and social difficulties. I strongly believe in the vision of young people for the development of our city and country, ” Durres mayor Sako said.
The Rector of “Aleksandër Mosiu” University, Kseanela Sotirofski, stated that the need to connect new graduates with the labor market is an effective tool to integrate them in our labor market, orienting them towards profiles that guarantee employment after studies.
