TIRANA, February 7 /ATA/ President of the Republic Ilir Meta stated that he will submit a lawsuit against the Albanian Parliament on Tuesday, because, according to him, “it has falsified documents that it submitted to the Constitutional Court”.
During a press conference, Meta considered it serious and criminal for the Albanian Parliament to submit a supposedly new piece of evidence to the Constitutional Court, falsified and without being asked by anyone.
“The president has stood above the parties and everyone remembers the constant criticism I had of the opposition leadership for the practice of boycott,” said Meta.
Meta said that the President has taken initiatives addressed to both parties to cooperate in implementation of Justice Reform in accordance with the Constitution.
He also said that he has publicly undertaken initiatives to promote the process of cooperation between the parties in the framework of the European integration process.
Even during the pandemic, Meta continued, he has taken initiatives in function of peace, tranquility and preservation of the health of citizens, to avoid the pandemic turning into political dictation.
Meta said that restraint has been characteristic of the President’s behavior.
Meta: No concern about the case in the Constitutional Court
Meanwhile, in a television interview in the evening, President Meta expressed confidence that after the end of this term, he would return for a second term as president after 25 years.
“The new president enters office after July 24, 2022. For me, there is no concern about the case in the Constitutional Court because the European Court is above it. Albania’s justice system is totally captured. This system will be shaken by the Albanian people very soon”, said Meta.
“I do not resign because I am not a deserter,” said Meta./j.p/p.s./
