TIRANA, Jan 31 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ The chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, told a media briefing that extension of the Vetting bodies’ term is not a matter of political nature.
Meanwhile, Balla said that “SP is holding discussions with the parliamentary group of the official DP to work out the definitions regarding the object of the mandate of the special committee for electoral reform.”
“The wording of the work object is very important because it clearly determines the continuum and we do not want to see back to back delays of this commission. We want to maintain the same definition, as in previous reform committees, which has to do with what is Albania’s obligation, drafting and then transposing into the election law all the recommendations from the OSCE reports / ODIHR, ”said Balla.
According to him, “this is an obligation for Albania in the framework of the European integration process.”
“I think that the opposition should also understand that the sooner the work starts, the better it is for all parties. Meanwhile, regarding the obligation of the Assembly to extend the term of the Vetting bodies, this matter does not rest with politics. For all other issues there will be discussions, consultations, dialogue in order to come up with the best and most accurate definition regarding the scope of work of the electoral reform commission or other issues, ” said Balla.
