TIRANA, Jan 4 /ATA/ The Director for the Western Balkans at the German Federal Foreign Office, Susanne Schütz, on Tuesday congratulated Albania on its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council during the period 2022-2023.
“On the occasion of Albania’s membership in the United Nations Security Council for 2022/2023, Susanne Schütz, Director for the Western Balkans at the German Federal Foreign Office, congratulated Albania for being a member of the UN Security Council,” reads the announcement of the German embassy in Tirana.
Schütz is confident that “Albania will thrive on promoting multilateralism, maintaining international peace and security, good governance, protection of human rights, sustainable economic development and fight against climate change, which are so important for all of us.”
From January 1, 2022 , Albania sits as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2022-2023.
The election to the Security Council, for the first time after 66 years of membership in the UN, represents a major challenge, but also an excellent opportunity for our country./m.m//a.a/sm/
