TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ At the end of 2020, the number of foreigners with residence permits in Albania recorded 13,609 inhabitants, increasing by 0.8%, compared to 2019.
INSTAT informs that the number of resident foreigners in 2020 is dominated by men with 64.0% versus women with 36.0%.
Compared to 2019, the number of applications for residence permits in Albania in 2020 was 7,661 applications, recording a decrease of 7.0%.
According to INSTAT, resident foreigners from Iran number 2,610 people, from Italy 2,067 and Turkey 1,597.
Foreigners from Europe in 2020 number 7,724 inhabitants and constitute 56.8% of foreigners in total compared to 66.4% in 2019.
Employment is the main reason for the residence permits of foreigners in Albania in 2020, with 47.5%.
“In 2020, 18,835 irregular foreigners were identified in the territory of the country, with 55.9% of them coming from Iraq and Syria”, INSTAT says.
