Costs for interbank transfers in euros reduced

TIRANA, Dec 21 /ATA/ Bank of Albania announced that the national payment system in European currency reduced the costs of commissions for interbank transfers in euros.

Currently, transfers in euros can only be made through accounts that Albanian banks have in correspondent banks abroad.

This creates a kind of paradox, because to transfer euros between two banks that may physically be a few meters away from each other the transaction must pass through Frankfurt, Vienna or Milan which requires much higher costs compared to transfers in lek.

The Bank of Albania announces that, with the new system, for the value less than or equal to 10 thousand euros, the commission applied by the bank should not be higher than 0.2% of the transferred value, while the commission floor is not higher than 6 euros. /j.p/sm/
