TIRANA, December 18 /ATA/Chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha has called today the National Assembly of the Democratic Party, where the DP delegates will vote on the statutory changes.
The Democratic Party has already dismissed from their functions in the National Council and in the leading board those people who participated in the activities of former prime minister Sali Berisha, describing them as acts contrary to the statute and the program of the party.
Likewise, Basha appointed yesterday the 12 new chairmen of the DP branches, Enklejd Alibeaj, Ervin Salianji, Kreshnik Çollaku, Jonila Godole, Taulant Zeneli and Jorida Tabaku, and set up the Permanent Statutory Commission.
While the Democratic Party convenes today the National Assembly called by Chairman Lulzim Basha, former prime minister Sali Berisha is organizing a referendum in all cities of the country to dismiss from office the current chairman and re-found the DP.

The referendum is a vote to confirm the decisions that were taken in the Assembly of December 11, initiated by Berisha.
The Electoral Commission announced that election materials had been distributed and administered by all relevant commissions in all 106 polling stations across the country.
After casting his vote in the polling station opened near the U.S. embassy, Berisha said in a statement to the media that, “Basha has no supporters”.
In answer to question of whether he is challenging the USA, for the fact that he opened the polling station near the embassy, Berisha said that, “For no free country in the world, especially for the USA, the great country of freedom, a free vote can not to be anything, but an act of welcome and respect”.
“For the first time in history, it is the membership of the party that decides today to dismiss its Chairman Lulzim Basha. It is a new chapter in the way of re-foundation of the DP”, said Berisha.
Berisha also took the opportunity to announce that, “On Monday, at 16:00, all Democrats will hold a big protest in defence of the national interest, but also against the terrible theft of 420 million Euros” ./ m.m / j.p /p.s./
