NATO sends Independence Day greetings to Albania

TIRANA, Nov 28 /ATA/ – The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) congratulated Albania on Sunday as the country celebrates the 109th anniversary of its independence declaration.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a photo through which NATO congratulated Albania on occasion of Independence Day.

“Join us to celebrate the Independence Day of our Ally, Albania,” NATO said as it posted a photo showing Albanian military uniform.

Albania’s Armed Forces are providing a significant contribution to NATO-led peacekeeping missions across the world.

Albania joined NATO in 2009 after the Accession Protocol was signed by all allied nations and the instrument of ratification of the Protocol on accession to the North Atlantic Treaty was deposited the State Department, the legal holder of the Treaty of Washington. By becoming a party to this Treaty and a NATO member state, Albania fulfilled a strategic goal and a primary objective of foreign policy, advancing significantly in the pursuit of its national interests.

Albania expanded its contribution to the Alliance’s efforts to maintain peace and security in Afghanistan, such as ISAF and Resolute Support Mission, after 2014. During this period, hundreds of Albanian soldiers served with high dedication and professionalism and sacrifices in some of the ISAF regional commands, best fulfilling the duties assigned by the ISAF Command.
