TIRANA, Nov 2 /ATA/ – The families whose properties will be affected from a project under the post-earthquake reconstruction project in the “May 5” neighbourhood in Tirana are eligible to full compensation, the Deputy Mayor of Tirana Arbjan Mazniku affirmed on Tuesday.
Mazniku said that a total of 135 private properties are affected from the new residential complex project in the area and the affected families will benefit new housing units.
“All the affected families, whose properties have been legalized or still under the legalization process are entitled to new housing and they will benefit same construction floor area. They will also receive compensation for the expropriated land. A good part of these families have already signed the contract,” Mazniku said in a televised interview.
Tirana Deputy Mayor also said that the affected households will benefit rental bonus until the residential complex project completes.
Asked about the protest staged by a group of residents, Mazniku said these protestors are being used for political purposes.
“A small group of residents are protesting and the overwhelming majority of them have nothing to do with the properties due to be affected by the project. This is a small group being used by the political parties,” Mazniku said.
The residential complex “May 5” is designed to become a new urban centre for around 11, 000 residents and it includes apartment buildings, commercial facilities, schools, kindergartens and public institutions.
