PM Rama: “Open Balkans” is future; Albania has no time to lose

TIRANA, October 21 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Thursday evening that “Open Balkans” is the future and that Albania has no time to lose, but should pursue this idea.

PM Rama made the statement during the anniversary event of the German Foundation “Friedrich Ebert” in Albania.

“Open Balkans” is the proper idea and at the right time, said PM Rama.

He expressed his conviction that everyone is going to embrace this idea step by step. “We shall build a space in the region that is a reflection of what we shall be in the EU. And in this way, we gain time”, said PM Rama.

The prime minister emphasized that the “Open Balkans” will be a functional space of 4 EU freedoms, but even an opportunity to increase our economy.

Speaking about the EU integration process, PM Rama emphasized that the people made the choice 30 years ago.

PM Rama added that the process is not up to us, but what the 27-member EU decides and its decisions cannot be fully projected.

And he mentioned Bulgaria’s case blocking the process while no one might have predicted.

PM Rama concluded by expressing grateful thanks to the foundation for its contribution on the country’s greatest wealth, i.e. knowledge.
