TIRANA, Oct 16 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) reiterated Saturday that there is no energy crisis in the country, but just a crisis of government corruption and mismanagement.
The DP lawmaker Ilda Dhori said in a press statement that the country had not been affected by the global energy crisis, “but by the government corruption and mismanagement crisis.”
“For days now, the government is seeking to convince citizens that the corruption and mismanagement of the power uitilities KESH and OSHEE is an energy crisis,” Dhori said in her statement.
According to her, in three tenders alone the government was causing a damage estimated at around 40 million euros.
“As they talk about crisis, they have actually caused an economic damage of 40 million euros, namely 10.6 million euros to purchase electricity at a higher price than the current stock market prices; 12 million euros by selecting the company with the highest offer for construction of the Llogara Tunnel project; 17.4 million euros by picking highest offer for construction of the Tirana Big Ring Road project. DP urges special prosecution office SPAK to immediately look into the perpetrators of this crisis of corruption and abuse that lead to rising prices at the citizens expense,” Dhori stated.
