Interior Ministry: Law on Foreign Nationals enters into force

TIRANA, Oct. 14/ATA/ The Law on Foreign Nationals enters into force after the Parliament rejected the President’s decree for his return with 76 votes.

The Ministry of Interior after the entry into force of this law, stressed some important points, stating that the law reflects the best expertise of some state institutions, namely the working group with several ministries involved, international partner organizations such as IOM , as well as it includes the Impact Assessment Document.

“The law aims to attract more foreign nationals, who want to visit the country, work or live longer in Albania, improving the rights of foreigners in Albania according to international principles, guaranteeing ease in procedures and giving them better opportunities for information and access to services,” Ministry said.

“All foreign nationals visiting the country, working or living here are an added value to the economy as they contribute and spend their money here, so under the principles of globalization and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015,  the goal is to provide open but secure borders,” the Ministry of Interior said.

The law pays attention to family reunions as well as the rights of family members of those who have a residence permit in the Republic of Albania, to reunite with their family members, according to EU standards in this field.

The adoption of this law is a qualitative step forward in terms of managing irregular migration, and is in line with the new migration and asylum pact of the European Union.//a.i/
