TIRANA Oct 13 /ATA/- By I.Vata/ The DP MP, Jorida Tabaku, has reacted on Wednesday over the economic situation in the country while making a reference to the statement of IMF.
Tabaku says that the govt. is failing in management and increase of budget revenue due to high informality and bad management of taxes.
“The government is failing in expenditures, investments are inefficient and citizens and the economy do not benefit from them. To sum up, investments do not produce the targeted economic growth, employment and better health of the economy. The situation with PPP is on the verge of madness, they account for 50% of GDP for the current year, turning the budget of Albanians into the portfolio of the government associates. Public debt is expected to increase further not only as a result of the increase in PPPs but also as a result of the increase in interest rates,” she said.
Tabaku adds that “the situation is getting worse for Albanians who will pay more to buy less staples. 51% of our families’ income goes to food and electricity, it will cost us even more.”
“Transparency with contracts, with enforcement of fiscal policies and laws have had an adverse effect on business climate, but above all they question the budget in relation to PPP. Complete lack of transparency on how much of the citizens’ taxes was spent on Albanians during the pandemic and how much went to the concessionaires. Complete lack of transparency about reconstruction funds while the estimates put the embezzlement at several million. Meanwhile the fight against informality has produced an even more informal economy. The rising prices will further eat away at the income of Albanians that will be contracted due to the burden of inflation.”
