Kumbaro: Vjosa River, a protected area; no building allowed there

TIRANA, October 8 /ATA/ Albania’s Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro reconfirmed today that there will be no construction on the Vjosa River area.

Kumbaro received today Thijs Kettenis, the journalist of the daily “Trouw” in the Netherlands, who is in Albania to write reportage on the Vjosa River.

“Vjosa is very important both for us and for our neighbors that is why we have declared it a protected area. There will be no building there,” said Kumbaro.

But, according to the minister, “We should not hesitate to use the opportunities given to us by eco-tourism and sustainable development so that to enable all local residents to live and build their economy there, as they have done for centuries.”

“The more realistic the projects, the more dreams we will be able to realize,” said Minister Kumbaro./m.m/j.p/r.e/p.s./
