TIRANA, Oct.8 /ATA/ The Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Friday that, the Council of Ministers has taken the decision to declare energy supply emergency, while tomorrow a special plan to deal with this situation will be made public.
In a statement to the media, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister Rama said that, “the emergency decision is dictated by a general situation of dizzying increase in the price of electricity in international markets.”
“This decision gives the government the opportunity to intervene, either through financial instruments or instruments of an administrative nature. Thus, today this decision will pave the way for further execution of the special plan to face this situation,” the Prime Minister Rama said, while adding that,” the plan will be made public tomorrow.”
In his remarks, the premier Rama said that, “in the meantime we can only refer to the analysis of experts and at the same time the analysis that are being performed by the governments of different countries.”
“This situation is quite similar to the pandemic situation from the point of view of shock, in the sense that everyone is affected. Unlike pandemic, different countries have different characteristics, but everyone is involved in a rationale for how we should handle this situation. Experts think that the crisis will be present with the peak, its peak, until the middle of next year and at the same time they think that even after overcoming the peak, prices will not return to the previous level. This is to be seen,” premier Rama said.
“What we need to do, is to protect our customers following a bottom-up order of priority, focusing on those most in need, and then going up to small business and beyond, and to those with higher incomes. The order of priorities will be from the least to most powerful people,” the Prime Minister Rama said. //a.i/
