TIRANA, Oct.8 /ATA/ The Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama said today at a press conference after the government meeting that, the price of goods in the market is determined by the supply-demand ratio, not the state.
Today, the Prime Minister Rama chose to answer the questions of some citizens on the dizzying increase in the price of energy in the international market, as well as prices across the entire spectrum of goods.
Responding to a citizen, the premier Rama said that, “30 years ago we chose the capitalist freedom of the market instead of the communist economy centralized by the state and the price of goods in the market is determined by the supply-demand ratio, not the state.”
“Energy stock prices in the international market, where we buy energy, have nothing to do with wage differences between Spain, Germany or Albania and we have not made any comparison of purchasing power, but we have informed about the influence of electricity prices in all international stock exchanges during this crisis that has strongly affected countries and their consumers,” the premier Rama said.
The Prime Minister Rama said that, “as long as we talk about goods that we buy in the international market, such as energy or oil in this case, the prices are the same for Spain and Albania.”
“Albania does not produce all the energy it consumes, but only a part of it, thus our country is necessarily affected by the energy crisis as it enters international markets and buys energy from abroad, which is all related to the stock market and the price of energy on the stock exchange is the same for everyone,” the premier Rama said.
Also, the Prime Minister Rama responded to another citizen who claims that, “in a year Albania produces about 1.5 million tons of oil and consumes about 0.6 million tons.”
In his reaction, the Prime Minister Rama said that, “First, Albania does not produce the amount of oil it consumes. Secondly, the oil produced by Albania is heavy crude oil, which goes mainly to the international market mainly for by-products, for industrial use such as bitumen. Meanwhile, about 600,000 tons consumed in the form of diesel and gasoline, are by-products coming from imports. Third, like everywhere in the democratic world of free market, oil in Albania is generated and traded by private entities, not by the State. Entities that trade oil buy it according to stock market prices in international markets.”
Also, the premier Rama explained that, “we produce only a certain amount of energy we consume and this helps us to have a regulated price of energy, not a liberalized price as other prices that depend entirely on the free market.”
