TIRANA, Oct.6 /ATA/ The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania-BoA has decided to leave the key interest rate on the Albanian lek unchanged at 0.5% and to leave the interest rates on overnight deposits and loans unchanged respectively at 0.1% and 0.9%.
The Governor of the BoA, Gent Sejko stated today that the increase in the prices of energy products and food can affect the monetary policy course of the Bank of Albania.
“The Supervisory Council continue to monitor the consequences of the increase of prices expected to affect the world markets. In case this growth proves to be stronger or more stable over time, as well as in case its impact on domestic inflation is higher than current expectations, the Supervisory Council remains ready to review the monetary policy stance, making sure that it is always in line with our inflation target,” Sejko said.
In the final analysis, the BoA Supervisory Council concluded that the wave of price increases will affect inflation in Albania as well. This impact of the price crisis is expected to be significant but transient. //a.i/
