TIRANA, Oct 5 /ATA/ “The citizens of the Western Balkans keep their ear on the ground whenever the EU leaders come together, full of hope for every door that opens and every light that shines ahead in relation to their European perspective. Europe is our dream and destination,” the Democratic Party head, Lulzim Basha, said in a video message.
Basha went on saying that he expects from this WB summit to address the bottlenecks in the journey of the Western Balkans towards Europe.
“I was 17 years old when together with the young men and women we protested chanting “ We want Albania like all of Europe” slogan. This call of our hearts overthrew the communist regime. Today, 31 years later, we continue to hope, seek and strive for Albania as the whole of Europe. We expect from this summit of the Western Balkans to address the obstacles in our journey towards Europe,” the Democratic Party head said.
He went on saying that the countries expect support for the rule of law.
“We expect support for the rule of law, more assistance in the fight against corruption and organized crime, support for free and fair elections, we expect more democracy, more opportunities for our youth and our citizens,” said Basha. /j.p/sm/
