TIRANA, October 1/ATA/ After the conference “The Role of Self-Governing Institutions of Justice”, Justice Minister Ulsi Manja said to reporters that soon we will have a new judicial map.
“The approval of the new judicial map, as an efficient mechanism for the reorganization of the judicial system is one of the priorities of the work of the Ministry of Justice”, said Manja.
Manja said that, “The process of approving the map of the judiciary is not easy because it has to do with reorganization of the court system and the prosecution as the prosecution offices operate near the courts. It is a process that takes into account many other factors that have to do with access of citizens to the justice system services,” he said.
He said that next week we shall have new information about the new judicial map.
“My goal is to provide judicial services where we have courts. So, the essence of the map that we are discussing with the High Judicial Council is the concentration of the judicial body “, he said.
Regarding the extension of the mandate of the Vetting bodies, Manja said that, “Our stance as a ruling majority is clear. We shall propose extension of the term of the Vetting commissions and here I refer to the Independent Qualification Commission and Public Commissioner”.
“Obviously, it is a process that requires intervention in the Constitution, while the cooperation and consensus of the opposition is indisputably necessary. The Vetting process will have to be completed by the Vetting bodies. It is true that the Constitution has provided as a mechanism that with the expiration of the term of the Vetting Commissions, the permanent functions are taken over by the constitutional bodies, the High Judicial Council, the High Prosecution Council and the SPAK, but this process is already consolidated in the Vetting bodies. It will have to be completed, especially since the new justice bodies are being consolidated,” he stressed./p.s./
