TIRANA, Sept 26 /ATA/ – Tirana’s iconic pyramid building is being transformed into the largest technology center, which will host thousands of young people to learn coding, robotics, design and programming, with the support of the Albanian-American Development Fund (AADF).
Prime Minister Edi Rama posted Sunday images showing ongoing construction works to turn the building into a center of technology and culture and a masterpiece of urban development in the Albanian capital.
“Good morning and through images showing the ongoing work to transform the Pyramid into the region’s largest technology and innovation center under the oversight of the project’s author, the internationally acclaimed Dutch architect Winny Mass, I wish you all a beautiful Sunday,” PM Rama said.
The Tirana Pyramid project, designed by the renowned Netherlands-based architecture and urban design studio MVRDV, foresees a transparent and full of light building to create the idea of a breathing space in Tirana.
The project includes the use of slabs of glass that will be inserted between the stairways on the building’s facade to help fill its central atrium with natural light. The project is also designed to create Tirana’s newest symbol and landmark and making the building accessible to everyone from all sides.
The pyramid is designed to serve as a kind of incubator for businesses operating in the field of innovation, art and creativity. The programs will provide education on new techniques such as software, robotics, animation, music, and film, graphic design, 3D modeling, programming, photography and new media.
