TIRANA, Sept 22 /ATA/ The US ambassador, Yuri Kim, reacted on Wednesday following the ruling of Special Appeals Court on former Prosecutor General, Adriatik Llalla.
The Special Appeals Court upheld a previous verdict which sentenced Llalla to 2 years in prison for hiding property and giving false information on the asset declarations.
US ambassador Kim says in a posting: “Good to see justice served against corrupt officials.”
“Prosecutors should continue to take action against officials – no matter how high or powerful – who misuse their position to enrich themselves. No one is above the law,” Kim said.
The Special Appeals Court has upheld the decision of the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, which sentenced Llalla to 2 years in jail, barred him from exercising public functions for 5 years and ruled on confiscation of property. /a.a/sm/
