TIRANA, September 20/ATA/ German Ambassador to Albania Peter Zingraf held today his first working meeting with Minister of Interior Bledi Çuçi.
The German Embassy in Tirana said that the meeting focused on advance of the reform agenda and EU integration.
“Ambassador Peter Zingraf held today his first working meeting with one of the members of the new government, with Minister of Interior Bledi Çuçi. The object of the conversation was, among other things, an assessment of the bilateral police cooperation in fight against organized crime as well as an exchange of views on the Afghan refugees that Albania has sheltered “, reads the Embassy report.
“I congratulate the new government led by PM Rama and wish him all the best in further work on reforms. I welcome the return of the opposition to Parliament and thank the President of the Republic and all state institutions involved for the rapid transition,” said Zingraf.
“The ambassador stressed in conversation with Minister Çuçi that there is no time to lose, so that the reform agenda must be carried forward resolutely and that EU integration must lead visibly like a pole star,” the embassy said.
“For the qualified majority in Parliament that is required in important areas such as the electoral reform and continuation of justice reform, there is needed a constructive cooperation of the majority and the opposition,” said Zingraf.
“The visit of the German Chancellor in Tirana made it clear once again that Germany continues to support and resolutely follow the path of Albania and the region towards the EU”, said the ambassador./p.s./
